Performer
Héléna Pikon, France, began dancing in Paris in 1975 with Jacques Patarozzi’s La Main before being invited by Pina Bausch to perform with Tanztheater Wuppertal from 1982 to 2022. She created roles in more than 30 works—including premieres of Renate wandert aus, Nelken, Viktor, Two Cigarettes in the Dark, Vollmond, and Sweet Mambo—and became celebrated for her ability to carry Bausch’s psychologically charged choreography with genuine emotional weight.
Shaping the legacy of dance-theatre, Pikon embodied Bausch’s presence notably in Café Müller, preserving its intimacy and intensity over decades.
Her collaboration with Alan Lucien Øyen began with Bon Voyage, Bob (2018), followed by her role as guest artist in Øyen’s creation Cri de cœur (2022) for the Paris Opera Ballet.
In April 2024, she was named Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in recognition of her exceptional contribution to dance and her embodiment of Bausch’s legacy.
Héléna Pikon performs in the winter guests production Antigone (2025).
