Performer
Nazareth Panadero studied classical dance at the Madrid Conservatory and trained with María de Ávila in Zaragoza.
After early work with Ballet Théâtre Contemporain d’Angers (1976–78) and Ballet de Poche in Paris, she joined Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch in 1979, remaining a central presence until today. During her remarkable tenure, she helped develop 19 productions by Bausch, including Nelken, Viktor, Palermo Palermo, Vollmond, and Sweet Mambo, bringing humour, emotional clarity, and an indelible persona to each role.
Her connection to Alan Lucien Øyen and winter guests began with Bon Voyage, Bob(2018), and continued when Øyen took on the artistic responsibility for the restaging of Pina Bausch’s penultimate work Sweet Mambo in 2022, which remains on tour.
Beyond Tanztheater Wuppertal, Panadero continues to create:
In 2022 she made and performed the duets 'Vive y deja vivir' and 'Two Die For' with Michael Strecker, works that explore intimacy, mortality and shared presence on stage, co-devised by Adolphe Binder and Meritxell Aumedes.
In 2023 she was guesting in Richard Siegals world premiere of BALLET OF (DIS) OBIDIENCE in Cologne, D, and its resulting film project by Benedict Mirow and danced in KAMMERBALLETTEN - „The Guests“ in Copenhagen, DK, by Ella Rothschild in 2024.
Panadero has been recognised at the highest levels of Spanish culture, receiving the Premio Nacional de Danza (2014) and the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes (2019).
Nazareth Panadero performs in the winter guests production Antigone (2025).
