Performer
Olivia Ancona is a multidisciplinary dance artist originally from the west coast of the United States, now based in Berlin. She trained at Juilliard before joining the Batsheva Ensemble and later the Batsheva Dance Company under Ohad Naharin. She was a founding member of Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar’s company L-E-V.
Her performance work includes collaborations with Mats Ek, Wim Vandekeybus, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Sasha Waltz, Adam Linder, Oona Doherty, and others. She has been a guest artist with companies such as the Royal Swedish Ballet, Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Göteborgs Danskompani, Staatsballett Berlin, and winter guests.
Ancona first began working with Alan Lucien Øyen in Story, story, die (2019). She continued her creative collaboration with Øyen as choreographic assistant for Netherlands Dance Theatre’s Tell your mom you love your skin (2021).
In addition to performing, she teaches Gaga, improvisation, and repertoire workshops internationally, and stages works by Sharon Eyal for companies in Europe and the US.
Olivia Ancona has worked on the following winter guests productions: Story story die (2019, performer) and The American Moth (2021, performer).
