Suzie Davies

Suzie R. Davies is a British dancer, actor and choreographer based in Oslo. Born in Portsmouth and raised in Leeds, she trained at the London Contemporary Dance School, graduating in 1992. She began her performing career in 1983 with an appearance in Monty Python’s film The Meaning of Life, and has since built a wide-ranging career across Scandinavia and beyond. From 1995 to 2004 she was a dancer with Carte Blanche, the Norwegian national company of contemporary dance, while also working with Uppercut Danseteater, Janet Smith, Karen Foss, Ingun Bjørnsgaard, JazzXchange, Den Norske Opera, Bergen National Opera, Helena Franzén, Hege Haagenrud and Jo Strømgren Kompani. As an actor she has also collaborated regularly with playwright and performer Kate Pendry.

Davies has been a regular collaborator with Alan Lucien Øyen and winter guests since 2007, performing in productions that combine theatre, dance and text. She co-hosted the opening of the 2017 Bergen International Festival alongside Andrew Wale. In 2010 she was awarded the Rolf Gammleng Prize for her achievements as a dancer and performer, and since 2012 she has been employed by Skuespiller- og Danseralliansen.

In 2014 she founded the dance company DEED together with her partner Mattias Ekholm. As artistic leaders they have created a series of works exploring the limits of the body and identity, including Bent Out of Shape (2018) and This Alien Body (Dansens Hus, Oslo, 2024), as well as projects presented internationally in Sweden, Norway and elsewhere.

Suzie R. Davies has worked on the following winter guests productions: SuperAmateur (2017, performer), Psychopatriot (2016, performer), Jingle Horse!(2015, performer), Coelacanth (2013, performer), America – Visions of Love (2009, performer), and In Time and It Will Snow (2007, performer).
