Andrew Wale - Creative Associate
Andrew has worked extensively, and internationally, as an actor, director and writer.
With Alan Øyen (for Winter Guests) he has written, and performed in; America - Visions of Love, Avenida Corrientes, Bird in Magic Rain with Tears, Lilly & George, Jingle Horse, America – Ep. 2 Psychopatriot, and Coelacanth – for which he won the Hedda Award for best original script. He has also written text for two dance pieces - Flawed and Simulacrum, and a play with a big band - OBRA, for the opening of NattJazz 2015 in Bergen and the San Sebastian Jazz Festival. He has directed, amongst others; Crave by Sarah Kane, Footfalls and Come and Go by Samuel Beckett, and Kanskje Aller Helst Der - a newly commissioned play by Ragnar Hovland, as well as being an International Associate Director for some of the world’s most successful musical theatre including Les Misérables and Mamma Mia! Andrew devised and directed Some Girls are Bigger than Others (based on songs by The Smiths), which opened in London and toured nationally. He also devised and directed Anonymous Society (based on songs by Jacques Brel), which won the Edinburgh First Award, the Total Theatre Award for best physical theatre piece and the TMA Award for best new musical. He is currently adapting a short story by Tove Jansson as an Opera for children.
