Avenida Corrientes is the story of celebrated German choreographer DIETER GEIER and his Argentinian principal dancer and muse AUGUSTO GARCIA, who return to buenos aires — the place of their first meeting — to create a new piece for a gala in honour of their 10-year collaboration. the events and routines of their savage and passionate world are revealed, as the two artists struggle towards the premiere of their new work, and a decision which will change everything, forever.

ALAN ØYEN continues his collaboration with actor/director Andrew Wale and dancer Daniel Proietto on this play, set in an apartment on Avenida Corrientes - Buenos Aires’ famous street of theaters.

Drawing on inspiration from dance biographies, films, and documentaries, this play — written by WALE and ØYEN — is a passionate love story: a triangular relationship between a dancer, a choreographer, and their work. During the process of putting together Avenida Corrientes, the company decided to make a ‘documentary’ film about the two central characters.

Eventually, this made its way onto the stage (projected on a 9 x 4 metre screen), and has become an integral part of the play. To make the ‘documentary’, winter guests travelled to Argentina, where the Buenos Aires dance scene opened its doors and its hearts - offering locations and talents beyond expectations: the home of ballet director Guido de Benedetti, onstage and off at Teatro Argentino, and a special appearance by acclaimed choreographer Oscar Araiz.
